Şömine haznesi kuru ve temiz bezle silinmeli. Şömineye sıcakken su vb. sıvılarla temas edilmemesi gerekmektedir.Bacanız belli aralıklarla temizlenmelidir. Etrafta yanıcı maddeler varken ateş yakmayın. Yanmakta olan şömineye dokunulmamalı ve çocuklar uzak tutulmalıdır. Şömineyi aşırı derecede ısıtmak tehlikelidir. Çıra, sarmaşık, saman, karton yakılması kesinlikle tavsiye edilmemektedir. Çöp artıkları, plastik malzeme yakılmamalıdır. Nemli ağaç yakılmamalıdır. Asla şömine külü dolu iken tekrar yakılmamalıdır.
